Cancer Free, and tired as can be!

My 9 month PETscan results came in a couple weeks ago and they are clear!!  No sign of disease recurrence!  Pretty amazing, though life continues to have it's ups and downs, we were quite happy about this last scan- it was a biggie!

I'm posting a simple update for now, just to note where I'm at in the post-BMT process.  Graft-vs-Host Disease (GVHD) is the main issue I grapple with currently, since we're not worried about treating cancer at the moment.  I have GVHD mainly in my eyes and joints, as well as a nice case of chronic fatigue that often accompanies GVHD.  In large part that's why I've kept from posting too often, I have had to cut out a lot of things in my life just to have some energy during the day to spend with my family!  I've even had to cut out housecleaning for the most part- you should see the state of my messy home... On second thought, no, you shouldn't! :)

I'm happy to be here, to spend time every day with my kids and my husband, and be seeing my extended family as often as possible.  Utah is amazing in the spring and summer, we're enjoying the outdoors every day, and enjoying the time we have together, while we have it.  Life is beautiful.

  1. I was just wondering how you guys were faring. I'm so happy that at least the cancer is gone...but so sorry you are still battling so much. We understand fatigue and it's tough. If you ever need anything, please let me know. (Not a shallow offer, I'd love to help!

  3. Hi Tessa,

Thanks for your message, great to hear from you and very glad to see you are moving onwards and slowly upwards. I understand the fatigue - I am exhausted a lot of the time. I am amazed how you manage with your two children and running a house! I am lucky enough to have a cleaner once a week, which makes a difference! My partner has now returned to Italy, so I am alone a lot of the time, apart from endless visits to the hospital for blood tests and infusions and transfusions... Enjoy your spring weather, in London it is wet and grey and cold, so not much chance of getting out into the garden. Keep the recovery going. Many best wishes to you and your lovely family (great photos) Tessa

  5. Thinking of you dear Tessa, and your adorable family. I missed you big time at our last Goals for Life tourney in Montclair. We lost all our games for the simple fact that you weren't with us in person, but in Utah, healing and being awesome. Sending you tons of love and continued prayers for a smooth-as-jazz recovery. Love, jo (who did some magic tricks with your tots and they cracked me UP!)
